Since 1976, our watch collecting community has found that nobody reads the about section anymore. So we are going to go on a bit of a looney rant about penguins. If you want to read more about us, skip to the next paragraph. Penguins have a life expectancy of twenty years, and they also need to relieve themselves every twenty minutes. So it got us thinking: is there a correlation between the two? The longer you wait to go: the longer you live? There is only one way to find out, and for that you are going to need an accurate and reliable watch to keep track of your bathroom trips throughout your life. We haven’t been very consistent in keeping track of that data to support this theory yet.
Relax watches are custom-made parody concept watches by Atelier Perpetuel, an American watch brand operated somewhere in a California garage by a couple of French and American watch nerds. We have been collecting watches for 15+ years. We are not only watch collectors but also art collectors, and this project is a way for us to blend these worlds together. Throughout our collecting journey, we have seen the watch industry morph into a new form of hype and artificial exclusivity – similar to what some facets of the art world can be. This parody project is our response to that phenomenon and draws its inspiration from artists that didn’t take themselves too seriously, like Marcel Duchamp and Banksy. Needless to say, we are not affiliated with any Swiss watch brands nor any respectable people.
